Anti-Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism and AI Content Policy
The Pakistan Journal of Advances in Medicine and Medical Research (PJAMMR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical conduct. All submitted manuscripts must be the original work of the authors and must not contain plagiarized or artificially generated content.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the presentation of another's ideas, text, or creative work as one's own without proper attribution. This includes:
-
Direct Plagiarism: Verbatim copying from another source without quotation marks or citation.
-
Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published work without acknowledgment.
-
Mosaic Plagiarism: Interspersing phrases or ideas from various sources into new content without attribution.
-
Accidental Plagiarism: Unintentional failure to cite sources or paraphrasing improperly.
Acceptable Similarity Threshold
PJAMMR allows a maximum overall similarity index of 15%, with no single source exceeding 5%, excluding references and standard phrases. This must be verified through a Turnitin plagiarism report, which the authors are required to submit along with the manuscript.
Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be returned for revision or rejected, depending on the nature and extent of the similarity.
AI-Generated Content Policy
The journal strictly prohibits the inclusion of content generated by AI tools (such as ChatGPT, GPT-4, Bard, etc.) without proper disclosure and authorship justification.
-
Authors must ensure that their manuscript has a verifiable AI detection score of 0%.
-
PJAMMR reserves the right to use AI detection software to verify the originality of submissions.
-
Manuscripts with significant AI-generated content that lacks transparency will be rejected.
Authors are required to submit an AI content report (using tools such as ZeroGPT or Originality.ai) confirming minimal or no AI-generated content as part of the publication process.
Screening and Detection
-
All submissions undergo preliminary screening using iThenticate and additional AI-detection tools.
-
Any content flagged for high similarity or artificial generation is carefully reviewed by the editorial office.
-
The journal cross-references databases, published articles, conference papers, theses, and online content to ensure originality.
Consequences of Misconduct
-
Minor Plagiarism: Authors will be informed and asked to revise and properly cite.
-
Moderate/Severe Plagiarism: Manuscripts will be rejected with formal notification.
-
Post-Publication Discovery: Articles will be retracted, and appropriate academic bodies (including the author’s institution and funders) will be notified. A formal retraction notice will be issued.
Author Responsibilities
-
Certify that their manuscript is original, properly cited, and free from significant similarity or AI-generated content.
-
Submit Turnitin plagiarism reports and AI-detection verification (0% AI content) along with the manuscript.
-
Obtain permissions for third-party content and follow all ethical publication standards.
Appeals Process
Authors who believe that their manuscript was unjustly flagged for plagiarism or AI content may appeal by providing detailed justifications and evidence. The editorial board will independently review such appeals and communicate a final decision.
