Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Instruction to Authors

The Pakistan Journal of Advances in Medicine and Medical Research (PJAMMR) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes original research articles, reviews, case reports, and other scholarly contributions in the field of medicine. The journal operates under the following guidelines to ensure the quality and integrity of published works.

  1. Manuscript Submission

PJAMMR accepts online manuscript submissions only. Authors are required to submit an Undertaking Form and an Institutional Ethical Approval Letter alongside their manuscript. Manuscripts lacking these documents will not be accepted. There are no submission or publication charges for authors, as the publication costs are fully covered by Nowshera Medical College, Nowshera, Pakistan.

Submission Requirements:

- Manuscripts should be submitted via the PJAMMR submission portal.

- A completed Undertaking Form and Ethical Approval Letter must accompany all submissions.

  1. Authorship Criteria

The journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for authorship. Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the work, and who have participated in drafting or revising the manuscript, should be listed as authors.

  1. Categories of Articles

PJAMMR publishes a variety of article types, each with specific formatting and length requirements:

- Original Research Articles: 2000-2500 words (excluding abstract and references). Requires Ethical Approval Letter and up to 25 references.

- Review Articles: 2500-3000 words, with 40-50 references.

- Case Reports: 800-1200 words, with 5-10 references and a non-structured abstract.

- Short Communications: 1500-1800 words, focusing on significant findings needing swift dissemination.

- Letters to the Editor: Up to 500 words and 5-7 references, offering constructive criticism or commentary on previously published works.

- Guest Editorials: 400 words with 4-5 references.

- Commentaries: 2500 words, addressing current issues within the journal’s scope.

  1. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the journal's format, which includes sections such as Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. Each section has specific requirements to ensure consistency and clarity.

Key Formatting Elements:

- Abstract: Structured for original articles; unstructured for reviews.

- Keywords: 5-8 keywords per manuscript.

- References: Follow the Vancouver style, with a maximum of 25 references for original articles.

  1. Tables and Figures

- Tables: Should be numbered sequentially and placed at the end of the manuscript, with titles and footnotes as necessary.

- Figures: Must be submitted as separate high-resolution files (JPEG, TIFF), and figure legends should be included in the manuscript.

  1. Ethical Considerations

Manuscripts reporting on human or animal studies must include a statement confirming that the study was conducted in accordance with ethical standards and was approved by an appropriate ethics committee. For studies involving human participants, informed consent must be obtained.

  1. Plagiarism Detection

PJAMMR screens all submissions using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with a similarity index above 19% will be returned to the authors for correction.

  1. Reporting Guidelines

Authors are encouraged to follow relevant reporting guidelines, such as CONSORT for clinical trials, STROBE for observational studies, PRISMA for systematic reviews, and others as applicable. These guidelines are available on the EQUATOR Network website.

  1. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright to their work but must agree to publish under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, allowing for free distribution and reproduction of their work, provided proper credit is given.
