Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy
The Pakistan Journal of Advances in Medicine and Medical Research (PJAMMR) ensures long-term preservation, accessibility, and security of all published content through internationally recognized digital preservation systems. These measures guarantee the permanent availability of all articles, regardless of technical or operational disruptions.
1. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PLN)
The journal is digitally preserved through the PKP Preservation Network, which provides distributed, secure long-term archiving for OJS-based journals.
PKP PLN ensures:
-
Automated deposit of all published issues
-
Multi-node distributed preservation
-
Guaranteed long-term access even if the journal website becomes inactive
2. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)
PJAMMR utilizes the LOCKSS system to ensure redundant preservation across a global library network.
LOCKSS Statement:
“The LOCKSS system has permission to ingest, preserve, and serve this journal’s content.”
This system maintains multiple authenticated copies to ensure content integrity and permanent availability.
3. CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)
The journal also supports preservation through CLOCKSS, a global dark archive that ensures survival and open accessibility of content in cases of journal unavailability.
CLOCKSS Statement:
“The CLOCKSS system is authorized to ingest, preserve, and provide long-term access to this journal’s Archival Unit.”
4. Self-Archiving Policy
Authors are permitted to archive:
-
Pre-print versions
-
Post-print (accepted manuscript)
-
Published PDFs
They may deposit these in repositories, academic social networks, or personal websites with proper citation.
5. DOI and Metadata Preservation
All articles are assigned DOIs, ensuring persistent identification and retrievability even if URLs or hosting environments change.
6. Internal Backup and Redundancy
The journal maintains:
-
Regular server-level backups
-
Secure off-site digital storage
-
Full database backups
-
Redundant preservation via PKP PLN, LOCKSS, CLOCKSS
